Review and Update Product Pricing

Review category prices, adjust selected products, and save catalogue changes

On this page

Before you start

Category pricing is available only when enabled for your organisation. You need access to Inventory > Products. If Edit pricing is missing, ask your administrator about availability.

Use this workspace to change catalogue products. It does not edit prices on already saved proposals. See Products & Pricing for pricing types and Proposals for customer-specific changes.

Open a category

  1. Open Inventory > Products and select Products.
  2. Select Edit pricing.
  3. Choose a Section, then a Category.
  4. Review the products in that category.

The workspace keeps changes for review. Editing a cell does not immediately save it to the catalogue.

Change prices

For ordinary prices, edit Cost, Sell, or Markup. Open How pricing updates work for examples:

  • Changing cost preserves markup and recalculates sell price.
  • Changing sell price preserves cost and recalculates markup.
  • Changing markup preserves cost and recalculates sell price.

For example, a cost of 100 with 50% markup gives a sell price of 150. Increasing cost to 120 while keeping that markup gives a sell price of 180. Markup is calculated against cost; it is not the same as gross margin.

Use the product’s pricing editor for variable rules and other complex pricing. Review its conditions and quantities rather than treating the product as one fixed price.

Adjust several products

  1. Select the products you want to change.
  2. Select Adjust pricing.
  3. Choose Sell price or Cost under Value to adjust.
  4. Choose Increase or Decrease.
  5. Choose Percentage or Fixed amount, then enter the amount.
  6. Select Apply adjustment.
  7. Review the affected rows before saving.

The adjustment changes the pending rows, not the saved catalogue. Incompatible products are skipped and Neptune reports the number skipped. Check those products separately.

Review and save

  1. Select Review changes.
  2. Check each New or Updated product and the before-and-after values.
  3. Resolve any errors. Read warnings before continuing.
  4. Select Save changes in the review window.

A success message reports the number of products saved. The saved prices are then available for new proposal selections. If saving fails, read the error before retrying; do not assume the catalogue changed.

Leave without losing work

Select Exit pricing mode to return to the product list. If you change category, section, or leave with unsaved changes, Neptune asks how to handle them. Review and save the changes you need, or deliberately discard them.

Common issues

Review changes is unavailable: there are no pending product changes. Choose a category and edit a value first.

A product was skipped by a bulk adjustment: its pricing type is not compatible with that adjustment. Open its pricing editor and change the relevant rule or rate.

The sell price changed when I changed cost: the workspace preserved your markup. Check How pricing updates work and review the resulting sell price.

An existing proposal still shows the old price: catalogue editing does not rewrite saved proposals. Open the proposal and review the specific product change before saving it.
