Grant a contact portal access

Give a lead or customer contact access to the client portal and check their sign-in status.

On this page

Grant access to a contact when they should be able to see the customer-facing sales documents for a lead or customer.

Grant access

  1. Open the correct lead or customer record.
  2. Check the contact’s name and email address in the contact list or sidebar. Add or correct the email first if needed.
  3. Open the contact’s actions menu, shown as three dots.
  4. Choose Grant portal access.
  5. Wait for Portal access granted.

The contact shows Not signed in until their first successful sign-in, then Has access. Granting access here does not send an invitation email. Email a portal link or send a proposal so they can open it.

Check who you are giving access to

Access belongs to the selected contact on the selected lead or customer record. It covers the eligible sales documents on that record, rather than only one proposal. Grant access only to people who should see that information.

Sending a proposal also grants access to its To recipients when the email succeeds. Each To address must match a contact on the record. You do not need to grant access separately before that send. CC recipients are not granted access by being copied into the email.

If the access list cannot load, click Try again before making changes. For a different email or someone who should no longer have access, see Revoke or change portal access.
