Set up your SMS phone number

Neptune can arrange a dedicated Australian mobile number for your organisation to send and receive SMS. The number is managed by the messaging provider and is not owned by your organisation.

This setup is available to eligible Australian organisations. If Your SMS phone number does not appear under Admin → SMS Settings, contact Neptune support.

Before you start

Have the following ready:

  • your registered business name
  • your 11-digit Australian Business Number (ABN) or 9-digit Australian Company Number (ACN)
  • the registered business address shown on official records
  • a current ASIC company extract or ASIC business name extract showing the registered business name and ABN or ACN

The setup may also request separate proof of address, such as a utility bill, tax notice, rent receipt, or title deed. The page lists the exact evidence needed for your organisation.

Documents must be PDF, JPEG, or PNG files no larger than 5 MB.

Start the setup

  1. Go to Admin → SMS Settings.
  2. Find Your SMS phone number.
  3. Select Start setup.

Starting the setup does not purchase or activate a number. It opens the form used to collect information for review.

Enter your business details

  1. Check the registered business name. Neptune uses the organisation name already saved when it is available.
  2. Start typing the registered business address, then select the matching address from the list.
  3. Check the street address, suburb, state, postcode, and country filled from your selection. The country is also inferred from your organisation where possible.
  4. Enter the ABN or ACN exactly as it appears on the registration document.

Previously saved setup information takes priority over organisation details. You can correct any pre-filled value before submitting.

Upload the required evidence

  1. Read the description beside each required document.
  2. Choose the document type if the page offers more than one accepted option.
  3. Select Choose document and choose the file.
  4. Select Send document securely.

Documents are sent directly to the verification provider. Neptune does not retain a copy.

Save or submit the setup

Review the summary at the bottom of the form, then choose one of these options:

  • Save and return later keeps your business details without submitting them for review.
  • Submit for review sends the completed details and evidence to Neptune.

Review timing can vary. An authorised Neptune administrator completes the provider review and activation. Return to Admin → SMS Settings to check the current status.

If the status changes to Action required, read the requested correction, update the marked information or replace the document, then submit the setup again.

When the number becomes active, the page shows the assigned number. Neptune will confirm separately when message delivery has switched to it.

An approved phone number does not provide permission to message customers or leads. Your organisation must still have permission from each recipient before sending SMS.
